Photographic installation
Five photographs show the same mirror at different moments, progressively expanding the viewer’s field of view.
The sequence begins with the photographer and camera reflected in the mirror. With each photograph, the camera moves farther away. The frame expands. The room expands. More of the structure surrounding the original image becomes visible.
The mirror is also part of another work, Biography (Reflected), installed in the same room.
Bond began with something the artist’s mother repeated throughout his life:
“Everything happens for a reason.”
Rather than simply accepting or rejecting this, he spent years looking for whether it could actually be observed. The five photographs record the moment that question became clear: nothing in the original image changes. What changes is how much context can be seen.
The title holds two bonds.
The first is the bond between the artist and his mother, and the idea she left him with.
The second is James Bond. Across decades, actors, stories, settings, and circumstances change while the underlying structure remains recognizable.
The photographs preserve that same progression. Each new image contains the one before it, but reveals more of what was already there.
Meaning becomes visible through attention.
